About the role
The European Exchange is seeking a motivated intern to support our work in democratic development across Europe and its neighborhood. This internship offers first-hand experience in communications, event management, and organizational administration in an international, versatile civil society organization.
 
Contract Duration: Flexible start date between March and December 2026, minimum 10–12 weeks 
Working Time: Full-time/Part-time (at least 50%) 
Remuneration: 900 € per month in a full-time setting
Key responsibilities

A. Press and Communication

  • Contributing to newsletters and press materials
  • Updating websites and assisting with basic content management and database of contacts
  • Supporting social media communication and contributing ideas for new formats
  • Monitoring media coverage and preparing short texts or summaries based on publications
  • Carrying out minor editorial and administrative tasks (proofreading, basic layout support, meeting protocols, editing statements, etc.)

B. Event and Project Management

  • Supporting communication and coordination with participants of events and activities
  • Assisting with event logistics
  • Team support during event days
  • Taking responsibility for small work packages within a project cycle, under supervision

C. Administration and Assistance to the Directors

  • Support the office management in daily business
  • Assist the directors in meetings and conferences
Your profile
Education and Experience
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's program in political science, international relations, communications, media studies, European studies, or other relevant field
  • Interest in democratic development, civil society, and/or election observation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office and content management systems
  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn
Languages
  • Good command of English and German 
  • Knowledge of another European language (Ukrainian, Polish, Russian, or other) is a plus
Additional Requirements
  • Work permit for Germany or eligibility to intern in Germany
  • Availability for a minimum of 10–12 weeks between March and December 2026
